I'm having a solo show this Saturday at Hairrion, an amazing salon in Hollywood. The title of the show is "milk tea days" and it's all about those slow days you spend in your room lounging around daydreaming, reading and of course, drinking milk tea. If you're in the L.A. area please come out and enjoy this special night with me.
(there's a flyer with more information but blogger won't let me post any images so I'm going to try again a little later)

sunday best: sweet and simple

There's this great website that tells you the cheapest gas prices in your area. I have been filling up regularly at a place that I thought was relatively cheap compared to most gas stations in my area, but today through the website I found a spot nearby that was $4.53 which is $0.10 cheaper than my usual spot and $0.16 cheaper than places in my neighborhood. It's only a matter of a couple dollars per tank but a dollar here and there adds up. :-)
As for my outfit today. I barely have any make-up on and I just pulled on a blouse with my wide leg jeans. My Sundays are really relaxed and I like it like that. Also I always cringe a little as I type out the brand names of everything I'm wearing. I don't know if it's nettiquette that developed so that people don't have to always ask about what you're wearing but I think I'm going to try leaving that area blank and see how it goes. I don't think anyone will mind, right? :-)

sunday best, summer hoodie.

My hoodie finally came out at Urban Outfitters. I knew that it was coming out this month so I started stalking my local UO until finally yesterday I was able to get my hands on it. It's sheer and super soft; kind of a new-fangled hybrid summer hoodie. I don't think you can get it online but if you go to the stores hopefully it's there. Check, check it out y'all. :-)
(to answer chris's question: I'm supposed to receive a sample and I could've been more frugal but once I saw the actual thing at the store I couldn't wait to wear it. I don't mind if I have two cause I'll probably wear them to pieces anyways. :-))
*hi susie, I tried to do some web sleuthing to answer your question but I still have no idea whether it's available in the U.K. :-(

too much good stuff.
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about material consumption and my personal limits. A realistic and practical limit is income; I don't buy things a lot of times obviously because I can't afford it. But even if I could, if say my income went up exponentially, when would I get sick of it all? I don't like to have loads and loads of things relatively speaking. I'm not trying to say things have no value to me or that there is no pleasure in acquiring them but there gets to a point when I feel weighed down by too much stuff. Having moved so many times I am always surprised by how many boxes I manage to fill move after move even though I am constantly editing my closet and getting rid of things.
When is enough, enough?
I have noticed, however, that whenever I am not as imbibed with all my medias(fashion blogs, magazines, cable, etc) I want less. I feel more content with making do with what I have. So then I think maybe I have to cultivate my personal limit?

sunday best.s

Today I had a photographer. I usually take my outfit pictures in my room and I don't wear shoes in the house which is why I often don't have a full-length picture with shoes. But today you are catching me in my "genkan/foyer" in a complete look. This is a very simple and easy outfit that I wear when I want to look presentable in the least time possible. I am looking down at a cucumber I just dropped.

breaking news.

Check out nylon.com. I'm their artist in residence this week(end). Their introduction to my artwork, "What if Strawberry Shortcake grew up, got a cell phone, and moved way downtown?", is so funny cause that's actually kind of exactly how my friends describe me. I am the naive but world-weary, fashion-loving, goody-goody, off and on party girl, nerd illustrator.

Sunday Best: cream and cadium stripes.
another thought.
The good thing about living with my brother is the things he brings into my life that I would never, ever spend money on i.e. sound systems, unshelled peanuts and Gatorade. The kind of bad things he brings to the table are minimal and forgivable: the sweaty boy smells and the way he "washes" the dishes(I always end up re-washing them). But basically he's the best roommate ever. :-)

a thought.
I should really read more illustrators' blogs, which there are quite a few, and less fashion(ista) blogs so that instead of wanting to buy more I'll want to draw more. :-)
(illustrator's or illustrators'....any grammer fanatics please do comment, if you will. is that a possessive apostrophe? or plural possessive or what? i'se confused)
