sketch, sketch.

I love to sketch and doodle while other people are talking. I half listen and half draw. At home I usually draw by myself and it's more focused but I really enjoy this kind of carefree, lazy doodling. These are some doodles I did in recently while I was in Chicago.

woahaoahoahoa!

I just arrived in Chicago two and a half hours ago but why do I already love it? I literally just got off at the airport and walked from the car to my friend's apartment and have been sitting talking in the kitchen(and everyone's asleep now) but already I'm digging this city. I mean the cute guy on my airplane totally got off at the same train station as me and he was like, "hey, you were on my plane." and I was like ohmigod the cute guy in glasses is totally talking to me and I was only able to mumble "yeah" cause I was on my cellphone. argh!!!! I should have been like, "yeah, hey, what's your name?" darn, darn, darn. i didn't mean to shoot him down if he just waited a second....but yeah, that never happens to me in L.A.. I never get hit on and especially not by the guys that I think are cute. Than my friend nearly runs over a guy on a moped and yes, totally cute(he wasn't hurt)!! I always see so many cute guys on the east coast. I can't wait for tomorrow. :-)

plastic boys and girls.

Last night I went to a photo exhibit opening for Yonehara Yasumasa and I left the show with a bad taste in my mouth. I went to the show knowing Yonehara's work. He takes sexy polaroids and photos of girls. I like his work for the cutesy styling, cute models and the lo-tech, fuzzy look of his photos. He has collaborated with Fafi and in general I like his work. But when I went to the show last night it dawned on me that his work is just a glorified collection of pervy photos. He has his own niche and I'm not trying to playa hate or be high brow about street art but I'm a little bit over the old man idolizing really pretty young girls genre of photography.

Royal T part two.

My friend Jessica sent me a pic of us from the Metromix website at the Gothic Lolita opening at Royal T. We were both covertly on theme. Can you tell? I forgot to mention that I met/accosted Cecilia Dean that night and she was totally nice!! Love her!!

pastel shoes.

I'm painting these shoes for a Boys and Girls Club charity event. It took me a long time to finally figure out what I'm going to do, mainly, because I want the shoes to be wearable. I didn't want to just slap on a drawing of my girls because I wouldn't wear shoes with drawings of girls on them. What I finally decided on is a simple design with animals, which I would wear. (I have to convince myself before I can convince others.)

It's Sunday again and I've barely blogged. It's been a busy week of entertaining guests, working at work, working on a photoshoot, working on illustration projects and trying to keep my sanity. :) This picture was taken on Tuesday the day after the pink wall picture.
