I'm always looking for new ways to stay moisturized in L.A.'s dry climate. I found this body oil, Anfora Rosa Body Oil, at Walgreen's the other day on sale for $2.99. I couldn't pass up the cute packaging and low price. I'm not usually a huge fan of body oils as they usually leave me with a greasy feeling, however, this Spanish brand's version has a light feel and fresh rose fragrance.

The directions say to apply it to damp skin, leave on for a few minutes and pat dry. I had never tried using it this way before but now I'm convinced it's THE best way to apply body oil. I found that applying it on damp skin is good in two ways: the water on your skin helps spread the oil evenly across your skin and the oil seals in the water as moisture.

Although the price is petite the pampered feeling you get from it is grande.

It's been almost three months since I started "sunday best" where I document what I wear each Sunday and amazingly I haven't repeated anything yet. That's twelve different outfits and I think I can still go on!! I'm dying to wear my overalls and black pencil skirt with suspenders again but knowing that I will have to post what I wear has made me very conscious about not repeating outfits.

The photographic documentation and weekly challenge to wear something new has been great for finding new outfits and for those days when I feel like I have nothing to wear I now have a personal pictoral glossary of outfits ready to go. I started this with the simple intention of documenting my outfits for the blog but the additional benefit of knowing what I have in my closet has become really helpful and I want to recommend it to others. Go take pictures of your outfits!! You probably have more clothes than you realize.

miss crew and you and me.

I've been checking out this blog: miss crew for a couple months now. It's an informative, smart, street fashion blog. I especially like their regular segments called Art Herstory in which they highlight female artists. It took me by complete suprise when they featured me recently. Check out the article here.

I love Lowry's Farm. It's one of those clothing brands where I always find exactly what I want or need. It fills the gap that Gap never filled for me, you know, affordable basics. Gap clothes always make me look like a soccer mom. No khakis for me....ever.

5 things I like about L.A.

1. Driving: I have bad feet but am still not willing to give up high heels which is a bad combination for walking. Luckily in L.A. I hardly walk! As for my driving skills I bascially drive like an old lady but my friend gave me some really great advice. It really liberated me from my all too frequent brake pedal-pressing ways she said, "don't worry about the speed your going at". It's so true, when I focus on driving correctly I get too paranoid. I think Bruce Lee put it best when he said, "Don't think, feel."

2. Sunshine: Every morning I feel like Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. Can it be any sunnier? Can the sky be any bluer?

3. Mexican food: Fish tacos, quesadillas, burritos, potato tacos, tortas.....I can go on and on: Del Taco, Taco Bell, Baja Fresh, Senor Fish, El Coyote, El Cholo, taco stands, countless nameless mom and pop places....

4. Korean food: I grew up in L.A. and it is so comforting to go to a Korean restaurant and order food in Korean from old Korean ladies. Some people say that L.A. Korean food is even better than it is in Korea. I've eaten in Seoul and I have to say I agree.

5. Target: They have everything under the sun there. I can go there and end up spending fifty dollars in thirty minutes even though I was just accompanying a friend running her Saturday errands.

It’s been one week since I arrived back in Los Angeles from Tokyo. I have spent most of the week safely strapped into the passenger seat of my car being driven around by my brother. The nerves in my legs are starting to atrophy and I can barely remember how to put one in front of the other, but my feet, my two big feet are tingling with excitement.

It’s not easy having size 9 ½ feet in Japan. Japan is shoe purgatory for women with big feet like me; no buying, only looking. To make matters worse not only do I have large feet I have bone protrusions the size of baby tomatoes sticking out at the joints beneath my large toes, otherwise known as, bunions. When I am purchasing shoes I have to consider size (width, length) and how funny my bunions look in it. It is no easy feat to find shoes that fit and flatter my feet.

But in North America, California, Los Angeles they have my shoe size at every store. They have shoes in 9’s and 10’s, in wide and double-wide. They have half sizes between whole sizes. I can run wild in all, more, well, most of the shoe fantasies that I had put on hold for the past two years in Japan. I had forgotten how satisfying a sensation it is(for me) to try on a shoe and have it be too big(never happens in Japan). America, the land of shopportunity and shoe size equality for all.
