super duper sunday best.

I feel a little shy about showing my face on my blog. I did it last week and a couple times before that but I'm a little wary....But come to think of it I put up other peoples' faces without a second thought.....and that's two-faced...haha.
I mean, mainly, it's because I'm paranoid and do want a modicum of privacy and because I can't be bothered. But lately I've been feeling that my faceless "sunday bests" were kind of creepy and I wanted to be more creative so I'm going to experiment a little bit.

attack of the bunheads!

I have to wash my hair everyday or it turns into a stringy, uncontrollable mess. Today I woke up with greasy hair cause I neglected to shower the night before and I was crunched for time so I put my hair up in a ballerina bun, which is fine and dandy but my brother also put his hair up in a bun. It was kind of weird. I felt like people must have thought we did it on purpose but why would anyone do something like that on purpose...oh well. The picture is for my parents we thought they'd get a kick out of it and my mad face is on purpose, haha. (I really shouldn't do that it makes me looks like I have a double chin....argh.)

My sunday bests have been very uninspired lately and I felt like I was stuck in a rut....But luckily today I had my friend, Sharice, to spice it up...and she helped me figure out my outfit. I had to change cause I was having a bad outfit day.

kathy lo is your friend.

I'm always curious about those enigmatic wunderkinds that are born cool, that art direct Nike ad campaigns at seventeen, that have their own eponymous brands before they hit twenty-five. In terms of designers Alexander Wang, Zac Posen, Chris Benz and Jenny Kayne come to mind. But I got another one for you: Kathy Lo. She's the high fashion Cobrasnake, like Paris Fashion Week, like pictures of Karlie, Hye and Irina Fashion Week, Fashion Week. Woah, right? Plus, she's only twenty-one. Anyways, her site has pictures of models doing their thing on and off the runway as well as pictures from Kathy's life. Go check out the chic clique at: kathyisyourfriend.

Sunday Stripey Best!

t-shirt dress: handmade by Junmarie

This is the first time I wore this top as a dress. I guess California does that to you. Suddenly every t-shirt looks like a dress. Previously in Japan I tucked it into shorts or skirts but I have to say the extra fabric was kind of cumbersome...this feels much better although I have to be very, very careful about how I move my arms.

But back to the shirt/dress it's actually made of two t-shirts: black and white. Junmarie, who by the way is an amazing illustrator and designer, took two t-shirts and sewed them together. She dyed and stained the white part yellow and pale pink and silkscreened her snail characters all over and as a final touch sewed on a sequin button eye.

You can see more of her designs on her online shop(click "fancy shop").
I don't think she ships overseas though. :(

sunday best!

dress: Heritage
cardigan: SPB
tights: Target

I haven't worn this dress in a couple months. I brought it out because I am still trying not to repeat outfits. The last time I wore it was for my birthday. My past couple birthdays have been very festive affairs but this year was subdued and honestly kind of awkward and I kind of dressed down cause I sensed this was not going to be the party of the year or even dinner of the month, but even so I shouldn't let that hold me back from wearing this more. It's so easy to wear and I love how it looks with black tights and flats.

crap, clogs!!

I haven't looked at Steve Madden in well, it's been a long time. Somewhere along the way I decided that their shoes were uncomfortable and overpriced...but I got a little bored and I found myself on their website drooling at these clogs. Ahhh--!! Why do I love them? I always love the impractical, heavy, shoes....I was actually looking for a pair of flat boots...

Anyways, I think I'm leaning towards the chocolate brown but I can't say I don't not like the tan ones....(I guess the photographer was too lazy to fix the strap on the tan pair. haha) I'll have to check them out in person and dream up some outfits but in the meantime some insight would be appreciated. :)
