Fruit Luck.

I've been having so much fruit luck. I'm really kind of apprehensive to jinx my great fruit luck streak by talking about it but it's really kind of amazing. I can't remember the last time I had a bad piece of fruit. Across all supermarkets: Trader Joe's, Ralph's, my local Korean market, everything I buy has been super scrumptious: Bartlett pears, Bing cherries, Oro Blanco grapefruits, Gala apples, plums, grapes, etc. It's not even like I know how to buy fruit. It's just dumb luck. I mean I know they're(read:yucky fruit) out there: I know my brother bought some sub-par Fuji apples recently but I didn't have any. So yeah, I don't know how long this streak will last but I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

(I got so excited I even did a little drawing!)

Randy Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Mellon, passed away today at the age of 47. His last lecture, Achieving Your Childhood Dreams, is a glimpse at a truly extraordinary person.

Did anyone???

Did anyone watch Project Runway last night? I'm really only a casual viewer but I'll sit and watch it when it's on. Anyways, last night Natalie Portman was a guest judge and she came across to me as really sweet and unaffected. She reminded me of one of my good friends, Samira(she is amazing), in the way she spoke. She spoke deliberately taking her time to pick the right words, being careful to be sensitive to the person she was talking to, tapering criticisms with positive aspects about the garment that she liked. Her sweetness and caring was fresh! It's a new direction for this season; instead of acerbic wit how about empathy; a little less selfishness and showboating and more sincerity and selflessness in words. Groundbreaking!! Also at the end when she looked like she was going to cry I was really surprised at how vulnerable she let herself be to show. I mean she could've acted very coolly like all the other judges but to release her emotions like that! So my end conclusion of last night's Project Runway: Natalie Portman, nice girl....

sorry.

I've been feeling very guilty about the state/direction of my blog. It's become a totally lazy picture fest as of late. I don't even know if I want to have pictures of myself floating around the internet like this but then I tell myself other bloggers do it so I shouldn't be so uptight. I remember when susiebubble stopped hiding her face with a camera and I started thinking if Susie's okay with it so am I. I don't know though sometimes I just want to delete the blog and forget about this ball and chain but I keep thinking one day I'll have the time to make it into a "proper" blog and so I keep slogging on.....

I still haven't figured out how I want to photograph this series of paintings....plus I already sold two so I might not get to photograph those(i.e. don't want to ask for them back just to take pictures of)...oh well...but here's pics of some of them spread out in my room before the show.

agyness is the bess--t.

I don't care about the so-called backlash against agyness' overexposure. I still totally heart her! Here's a little sketch I did of her.

je'taime.

My friends know that I'm low maintenance when it comes to bags. No matter what I'm wearing I end up carrying around a dusty canvas totebag. My friend, Jessica, gave me a black canvas marc by marc jacobs bag and it's all I've been using since October although I've purchased two "real" bags(at the behest of my better pursed friends) this year. The two bags, lovely as they are, give me anxiety when I use them because I am constantly worried about ruining them. So as of yet the only bag for me is still the classic canvas tote and I found my next one online the other day, on forever21.com, no less. It's super faux french and only $5.50. I'm going to try looking for it at the store before I order it though...wish me luck.

go, go, go!

Hello, everybody, my first solo art show went off safely without a hitch. It was a one-night only event and I did the best I could with what I had. It was a long three months sketching, painting and working and reworking the concept but it was all worth it. The Hairroin girls were lovely, so many of my friends came out in support and it was just an all-around great experience. :-) Here are some photos from the night. (I didn't get that many of my artwork. They were hard to photograph in the lighting there.)
